The joy of finding the perfect software

Almost a year ago, I wanted to find out a suitable Java based CMS for some personal work. I did not have much idea about CMS at that time; was only thinking that it will be very similar to a wiki or the WordPress site. I had some very specific requirements. I wanted it to be open source, simple, small, customizable and extensible and what not! I started frantically searching and downloading and experimenting with a lot of Java based CMS softwares. But, they ALL turned out to be just rubbish. After a few weeks of intense searching I was vexed and abandoned the very idea of finding and using a CMS.

Many months passed and suddenly my interest was reignited a couple of months ago. I started the search again. This time I found some apparently fantastic softwares. But when I actually started experimenting with them, they turned out to be either white elephants or just useless pieces of shit. I am not able to comprehend why people spend their time and energy in writing shitty software – for no money! If writing shit gives money, that is another matter – which many of us happily do. But, what is the point in developing some huge and fancy open source softwares, which turn out to be total junk? Are these guys making any money out of these FREE open source softwares in any way? Doesn’t the project manager ever use or test the features of these softwares?  This is what I am not able to get my head around.

Anyway, the good news is I found my perfect software last night. There is some guy, somewhere in the world who knew exactly what I want. He has literally crystallized my dream into a little CMS and put it in the internet for me to download.

After all this effort, I can now tell what is shit and what is useful among the Java based CMSs. That qualifies me to be a consultant in this sphere, doesn’t it?

I am sure you knew it.

Else, you would have written about the best of the lot!
